2. How Do I Order?
Once you have located the item that you are looking for
- Click on Order On-Line
- This will transfer you to thebigbookshop.co.uk (see Who are thebigbookshop.co.uk)
- Add quantity required and Click on Add to Basket
- Check Order Details and update quantities as required. Click on Add to Basket
- Click on Take Me to the Checkout
- You are presented with two options
- Option 1: Enter existing account details
- Option 2: Create a new account (Please fill in all sections - Once this has been completed confirmation of your new account will be sent to the email address you provided
- Select shipping method
- Please enter ALL your credit card details as requested
- Check that the address details are correct
- Click on Continue to next stage
- If everything is correct click on Confirm Order. (at this point you can also get an approximation of how much your order will cost in your local currency)
- Confirmation of your order will be sent to your email address
Our staff will check availability and confirm when the item will be sent
3. How Can I Pay for My Order?
We accept credit and debit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, Connect, Switch and Solo for transactions online. We do not accept American Express or Diners Club. If you pay by cheque please ensure that the cheque is in £Sterling and drawn on a UK bank, preferably with a cheque guarantee card number written on the reverse of the cheque.
4. Is it Safe to Use my Credit or Debit Cards?
All orders sent through our secure server are encrypted for transmission to ensure confidentiality. We will send the payment confirmation slip with each order. All transactions will be carried out at our London shop High Stakes is the name that will appear on your records.

5. When Will I Be Charged for My Products?
If you are paying by credit or debit cards you will only be charged when the items have been despatched. If a title is unavailable you will only be charged for what we send and the remaining items will be charged as and when they are sent. If you pay by cheque, this will be cashed and you should expect to wait 3-4 days for the cheque to clear before your order is dispatched. If for any reason a book is unavailable or the price of a book has changed we will get in touch to advise you. Hence the reason why we ask you for a contact phone number or e-mail address.
6. What are the Delivery Charges?
These are the most common postal charges that will be applied to your order.

Please note that this postal rate applies to another part of our network and does not apply to gambling books, unless you wish to prepay an order and collect it in person from the shop. This postal rate will not be accepted for any gambling book order that is sent via the mail or carrier.
We use the Royal Mail to send the majority of our orders. Below is an indication of their general delivery aims. These are for days following the day of posting.

8. When Will My Order Be Despatched?
If your book is in stock every effort will be made to despatch the order by the next working day. If the book is out of stock the book will be ordered by the next working day and this will be confirmed by email. If the book is not available we will notify you of this as soon as possible.
9. Can I Order Items That Do Not Appear On The Site?
We always try to keep the stock range on the website as up to date as possible. However, it is possible that new books will not yet have appeared on the site and we always welcome customer enquiries about books that we may not know about or for some reason we have not listed. 10. What Is Your Returns Policy?
You can return any item that is not what you wanted or has been damaged in transit. Simply return the goods to our London address - High Stakes Bookshop, 21 Great Ormond Street, London, WC1N 3JB within 14 days of receipt for a full refund. Please advise our staff before you return any goods, stating your reasons for the return.
Please note we do not accept returns on videos because they are not compatible for your VCR. Every effort should be made to check the format compatibility before purchase. If in doubt call 020 7430 1021
11. Will the Videos & DVD's Work With MY VCR?
The Videos & DVD's that we stock are compatible with the British Video Standard PAL unless otherwise stated. If the video states that it is of US origin, you will need a VCR that plays NTSC format videos. Please check before ordering.
12. Where Is Your Shop?
Open weekdays between 11am and 6pm, our bricks and mortar store in London's Great Ormond Street offers a friendly and helpful welcome to visitors wishing to browse or buy. We endeavour to hold stock in the shop of all items on this web site so they can be viewed before purchase but if you are looking for a particular item please call the shop to see if it is in stock.
Since the shop is occasionally closed, for example for some sporting fixtures, we advise those journeying specially to visit to telephone in advance on 020 7430 1021 to confirm opening hours. The shop is located at 21 Great Ormond Street near the corner of Lambs Conduit Street. Nearby tube stations include Holborn and Russell Square (Piccadilly line), and Euston and Kings Cross mainline stations are a short taxi or bus ride away.

13. How Do I Cancel/Change or Add To My Order?
To make amendments to an order please contact the shop manager either by email at manager@highstakes.co.uk or on 020 7430 1021. Please have your order reference to hand and if possible the code number of the item that you want to change.

15. Credit Card payments
All credit card payments are made through our London shop - High Stakes - and as such the transactions will show up on your statement as originating from High Stakes.
